whatever comes

“Whatever comes,” she said, “cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it.”

Frances Hodgson Burnett (A Little Princess)

I just recently read A Little Princess. I’ve seen the movie but had never read the book. I actually have a list of children’s books I want to read/reread. Also on the list are Peter Pan, The Little Prince, The Secret Garden, and Anne of Green Gables. Now I just need a few more hours in the day.

What are you reading? Probably not kids’ books right?

  1. oh, the secret garden is one i've been meaning to reread lately, too. also, anne of green gables was a childhood favorite.reading right now: let the great world spin. it's amazing.

  2. i re-read the secret garden for a college class a number of years ago, and was delighted with how well it held up since reading it as a child. kids books are my all time fave!

  3. i collect children's literature! it's kind of one of my hobbies. i've read a lot of it & even taken some classes. the little princess is one of my favorite books of all time. it's amazing. my copy is all underlined & written in. i read it in high school when i was going through a really hard time, and it helped me a lot. all of the anne of green gables books are amazing. i love anne. sometimes i miss her. you should read harriet the spy too! that book is SO good. love it!

i'd love to hear from you
