dreaming of spring

For some reason as soon as Christmas is over I feel like it should be Spring again. Maybe it’s because it’s 73 and beautiful outside right now.

As soon as it is actually Spring though I think I’m going to carry a pretty basket instead of a purse like Jane Birkin did. Apparently people used to recognize Serge & Jane by her basket and his ears.

What do you think? What are you looking forward to this Spring?

sweetness guaranteed

A little girl in my former primary class brought me these flowers today. There was also a tiny green journal and a few others goodies. Her mom told me later she bought them with her own money. She’s 6 years old. Of course I cried.

But I adore my new class. It’s sort of impossible not to. But remember Isaac? His mom told him he’d finally get to be in my class this year… but it’s not so. Lots of tears and sadness. Poor little guy.

In other news it was 76 degrees today. Thank you California, I love you.

Just a minute… in December

Reading… blogs, lots and lots of blogs. And also Pride and Prejudice.

Drinking… Lots of hot chocolate. Yum. And water. I don’t usually drink enough.

ListeningDevotchka… so good.

Wanting… to move into a new place… possibly in a new state.

Watching… Roman Holiday and Harvey. Isn’t Jimmy Stewart a genius?

Loving… New opportunities!

Promising… Nothing. (But trying for everything)

thank you thank you

One more Christmas-y post because I’m so grateful. I got some really thoughtful presents from family and friends but I also got gift certificates. I getting LOVE gift certificates. I know a lot of people say they’re impersonal or boring but not me!

You see if you give me a gift certificate you are really giving me TWO gifts – whatever I purchase AND the gift of shopping. And I’m sure you’ve figured out by now that I am rather fond of shopping.

I got a gift card to Anthropologie – YAY! These items are at the top of the list:

This stripey top, these pretty clothbound books: Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice and this gorgeous book.

And I really, reeeeally want this camera. Like I need another camera …

And I also got a gift certificate for Southwest Airlines. I didn’t know you could do that! So awesome. Another trip to Utah is in order.

Thanks for a wonderful Christmas! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too. xo

(ps – someone asked me what I got Harlow for Christmas. I’ll tell you but it’s not much of a gift – she’s getting spayed. :( Poor baby. But I am not ready to be a grandmother. Don’t worry she’ll get lots of love and kisses too.)

last day of primary

This was my last Sunday with my Primary class. Next week I’ll have a new class and I’m excited but I am going to miss the ones I’ve had. One of them asked me as we were leaving, “You’ll still be my friend, right?” Of course I will. As a special treat on Saturday I ordered some mini red velvet cupcakes from Crushcakes for them to take home after class.

But this is the cute part.

After our lesson I told them they could have a few minutes free drawing time. They could draw anything they wanted. This is what I got:

The last one is of the temple. And the sweet girl who gave to me asked if I’d invite her to my wedding when I got married. So cute.

What a great Sunday! What did you do?

Merry Christmas

Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.

Behold, I come unto my own, to fulfil all things which I have made known unto the children of men from the foundation of the world, and to do the will, both of the Father and of the Son—of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall the sign be given

And it came to pass that the words which came unto Nephi were fulfilled, according as they had been spoken; for behold, at the going down of the sun there was no darkness; and the people began to be astonished because there was no darkness when the night came…

And they began to know that the Son of God must shortly appear; yea, in fine, all the people upon the face of the whole earth from the west to the east, both in the land north and in the land south, were so exceedingly astonished that they fell to the earth.

For they knew that the prophets had testified of these things for many years, and that the sign which had been given was already at hand…

And it came to pass that there was no darkness in all that night, but it was as light as though it was mid-day. And it came to pass that the sun did rise in the morning again, according to its proper order; and they knew that it was the day that the Lord should be born, because of the sign which had been given.

And it had come to pass, yea, all things, every whit, according to the words of the prophets.

And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word.
